When you go on outings, where does your owner park you if you are not allowed inside?
My mummy ties me to a tree or a post. She puts me in the shade and away from the traffic, but sometimes it’s hard to find a suitable spot. So when we saw a clever Pet Parking devise outside a shop, we contacted the designer who sent us a sample.
Turns out that dog lover David Wyatt developed Pet Parking to tether his own dog when he went into shops and cafes, and the idea has taken off, especially with changes to food laws allowing pets in cafes.
Now Pet Parking is everywhere - in homes and caravans, outside shops and cafes, in veterinary clinics, dog grooming salons, child care centres and more.
David told us he researched legislation, approached councils and did market research before patenting his innovation. “Apart from ensuring the device is safe for pets, I didn’t want it to be a liability to shop owners who chose to install it. So the fitting has no elements jutting out and no sharp edges,” he explained.
The business/home owner simply attaches the devise to a wall (screws provided) and the dog owner can put the loop of the dog’s leash over a secure hook. It’s sooo easy. The latch swings out against pressure so the leash cannot slip off.
The product is selling all over the world, but there are no distributors in SA as yet, so you will have to buy it online.
Pet Parking comes in different colours and we have installed a red one. That’s my friend Harry and me in the photo outside the MLL office. Mummy put it in place so my doggie friends can safely stop a while their owners can come inside. Take a look next time you walk by.
